Getting to and from Baton Rouge
Conference Locations
The location of the workshops on Jan. 8th is still being finalized, but will likely be at a hotel in Downtown Baton Rouge.
Debates, discussions, and lightning talks will take place on Jan. 9th and 10th at the Manship Theatre at Shaw Center for the Arts, located at 100 Lafayette Street in Downtown Baton Rouge, across from the Old State Capital on North Boulevard and from the Hilton Capitol Center on Convention.
An evening reception will be held on Monday, January 9th at LSU’s Museum of Natural Science. The reception, including transport to and from the Museum, is included with conference registration.
By Air
Baton Rouge Metro Airport (BTR)
The newly-renovated Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) is located 7.8 miles from the meeting site in Downtown Baton Rouge and is served by American Airlines, Delta and United. Information on ground transportation to and from BTR can be found here.
Uber service between the Baton Rouge Metro Airport and SSB conference hotels is available for passengers with scheduled pickups/dropoffs, and usually runs in the range of $12-$15.
Taxi fare from the Baton Rouge Metro Airport to conference hotels downtown is approximately $21.93 in light traffic, including 15% gratuity.
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport
The New Orleans airport (MSY) is about 1 hour 15 minutes by car from the SSB meeting site. It is served by all major airlines, including Frontier, Southwest and Spirit Airlines and may offer lower fares. There is no direct transit from MSY to Downtown Baton Rouge, however, so renting a car may be necessary.
UberX fare from MSY to the meeting site in downtown Baton Rouge is often $80-$100. Taxi fare from MSY will cost approximately $170, including tip.
By Car
Conference lodging and all daytime events taking place during the SSB meeting are conveniently located within easy walking distance of one another in Downtown Baton Rouge.
Driving directions to the Manship Theatre at Shaw Center for the Arts:
Address: 100 Lafayette Street, Baton Rouge, LA
From I-110 North: Exit at Convention St. and drive west on Convention St. to the Shaw Center.
From I-110 South: Exit at Government Street, merge right with traffic and drive for a half mile. Turn right on St. Louis Street and drive to North Boulevard, where the theatre will be on your left after the intersection.

By Bus
Megabus provides transportation to and from Baton Rouge, including three routes daily from New Orleans and five routes daily from the Houston area. Uber or a taxi service is the most convenient way to get from the Baton Rouge Megabus stop located at the NE Corner of Convention St & N. 22nd St (CATS Terminal) to conference lodging, and will cost between $7-10.
